Announcing the August '07 Class PDF Print E-mail

Six new Fellows will soon be inaugurated into Indicorps' intensive leadership program.  As part of Indicorps' attempt to increase the investment in individual participants, we aim to reduce the size of fellowship classes as we integrate a new January program that staggers starting dates of smaller groups.   We are excited for Bhavana, Fatima, Ishtar, Naveen, Parth and Rashida to join the ranks of Fellows for Life (Indicorps fellows join a growing community of committed to a better world). These Fellows were selected from an outstanding pool of applicants and will bring tremendous potential and energy to the Indicorps family. While we diversify internationally and welcome our first South African-Indian Fellow, in a bizarre twist of geography, the rest of the team coincidentally all hails from the Washington DC/VA/MD metro area.

The Fellows range in age, experience and background, starting recent graduates in International Development and Economics to young professionals with strong technical backgrounds in Engineering and Computers. As relevant as their studies are their diverse connections to India and its future – some were born in India and left an early age; for others, they will come to build discover their roots on their own terms for the first time. Continuing the tradition of geographic concentration, three of the Fellows will be based in Ahmedabad, working on public health, education and at the Gandhi Ashram, while the other three will be in the Maharastra/Karnataka regions, focusing on energy solutions, governance reform and entrepreneurial and business skills for tribal women.

Did You know?

Indicorps offers a variety of programs and opportunities that encourage leadership and civic engagement.  While the fellowship focuses on empowering people willing to do whatever it takes to affect change, we also have local volunteer programs in India, an established internship program, an emerging domestic program, an effort to engage late-careers seniors in development, an online volunteer opportunity site, and more....

Inspiration

If you have come to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.
